The Cookery Network

The place for passionate cooks

Sorry for the shameless self promotion but myself and head chef Ben Mack have just launched a new menu at the Oddfellows Gastro Pub in Exeter. We're working along the British lines and are trying to use the best, local, seasonal produce. There's a few classics i picked up from the cookery school on the menu but also some ideas developed by myself and Ben. There's a lovely Chicken liver parfait starter and the amazing Ashburton Duck breast main course using the best Cready Carver duck served with fondant potato, glazed carrots, spinach and cumberland sauce. The highlight on the dessert menu has to be the lemon tart, it's not the Ashburton recipe but it's just as good! If you're looking for some good quality grub in a nice environment then come a check us out. We're on new north road in Exeter. Probably best to book ahead so you can definitely get served.

Hi Keith, unfortunately the photos aren't our food yet. It's all hopefully going to change and trust me the butter portions will be gone asap.

Luke the wbsite looks good, I checked it out yesterday. I have one amazingly, analy retentive thing to comment n. You have a beautiful platter of what looks like nibbles and stuff but you add butter portions in foil. I am sorry but they lept out at me as not being right. for me they detracted form a fantastic looking dish and I feel that there must be some amazing devonshire butter that would look golden on the plate.
Really Really sorry!
Keith

Good luck with the venture and I can confirm that the Sladesdown is unbeleivably good duck!

Ahhh but the Creedy Carver's a more local to us and we all know how beautiful they are. Dom i've been working on the owners to sort out the website for a while, i'll post a link to it when it's sorted. I'll have a chat with them tomorrow about some sort of offer for the Network people.

Sounds good Luke - best of . Post up the menu, closely followed by a special offer for everyone on the Cookery Network.
BTW did you know your Oddfellows website has been hacked.
Here's the cached version if anyone wants a look:

Hi Luke
Sounds good but we have moved on from creedy carver duck! Buying the best ducks in Devon from Daniel at Sladesdown Farm about 2 miles from us. They are hand dry plucked and hanged perfectly for the best possible texture and flavour. Come Chef keep up !!
